I Do Believe
There was this thing I heard Oprah say awhile back. She said she gave this man a car on one of her shows and in the shock and surprise of receiving this gift, they locked eyes. In that moment she says she knew that they understood each other perfectly. I always wondered if that clarity, the perfect understanding of one other person would happen to me.
I went to see Patty Griffin on Tuesday at Kingsbury Hall. She was promoting her new album, Downtown Church, and warned we would be in for a revival. Patty has a voice that doesn't seem to match her body. A small thing that seems even more so when the sheer power of her songs emanate from her mouth.
During "Heavenly Day" I could only stare at her and feel this sense that we understood each other. That bad things happen, and there are times to be sad, times to be angry even. But sometimes, there are silly, wonderful things, and equally silly, wonderful people and you just have to sing. If only to yourself.
I know this isn't much of a review of the show, but today's General Conference made me want to sing instead of cry. Sing instead of shout. I wish there were more of these moments.

Aww!! That was tender honey!! Who cares if it wasn't much of a review. You know I felt the same way. She is truly amazing, and I'm so glad you introduced me to her!! You know I had that same moment during Heavenly Day, I just couldn't contain the happiness I felt! It's my favorite feeling in the entire world. I can't imagine how it would have been had she sung "Burgundy Shoes" or sheesh, "Rain". I'm sure I would have lost it.
Love ya!!
President Monson's talk/testimony at the close of the first Sunday session did just that for me.
And honestly? I think what you wrote right there is pretty much all the review you'll need.
Although, you know I'm still going to bug you and Amber for details on Monday.
Also? CHUCK.
