Whether to weed...

Last year my neighbors told me about Bell Organic Gardens.

Basically, you purchase a "product share" in the spring, they use the money to actually buy seeds and equipment, and come June you pick up your weekly "share" of organic produce until October (18 weeks). The shares are offered for two or four people, in six different locations (Draper being sold out). They also offer other items besides produce. Everything is local.

So why didn't I participate this year?

Well, I went to a Relief Society Gardening Night and convinced myself I could grow basil. The first week, sprouts actually started to grow.

Of course my basil will never resemble the above picture (no camera to show actual basil). Instead it grew this weird mushroom like fungus because I kept it in the kitchen. Which died when I put it on the window sill. And now the basil sprouts themselves are slowly dying.

Obviously a pot of basil isn't going to supplement my veggie diet, but I had hoped I could eventually grow beyond herbs.

Hmm, if I ditched Beirut next Thursday maybe I could do this.

Are you still contemplating the 2010 TCS? Girl Talk did half the business of Modest Mouse, but still... 20,000 folks is kinda nutso.

Although... I confess I harbor hope for the N. Pornographers show yet. Neko needs to stop falling in love with me, the sultry minx.

I for one think it's cool that you went for basil but ended up with some form of mycelia all up ons. How unexpected is that? You're like the mushroom queen! Bonus 3000 points!
